Despite having decisioned Jorge Santiago in his last outing, and a 4-1 record in his last 5 bouts, Gerald Harris has announced he’s retiring from fighting at the age of 34.

The UFC veteran announced the news on Facebook by posting:

Thanks so much for the opportunity but I have a family to take care of so I’m going to have to walk away. I am retiring from Mixed Martial Arts today. @AliAbdelaziz00 @SugarRaySefo @MMAWorldSeries

Harris also posted the following tweet regarding his decision:

After going 3-1 in the UFC, Harris (22-5) went on to compete in organizations like DREAM, Legend FC, and WSOF. Harris made his WSOF debut in November, 2012 and was decisioned by Josh Burkman, before he defeated Santiago last August.

The welterweight, who also works as a stand-up comedian, made his MMA debut in 2006.
