The Edmonton, Alberta based promotion Aggression MMA has confirmed two of the bouts for its upcoming February 11th event,  as UFC vet Victor Valimaki will fight light-heavyweight Tim Chemelli and noted welterweight Ryan Ford will face prospect Tyson Steele.

The promotion’s first event of 2012 will be hosted by Edmonton’s Shaw Conference Centre.

Valimaki (16-8) will be looking to end a three fight losing streak which includes back-to-back losses to Martin Desilets and most recently Karl Knothe. Since Valimaki exited the UFC in 2007, the veteran has now gone 7-4.

Chemelli (8-1) is coming off the first professional loss of his career, as at AMMA 8 in September, he lost by unanimous decision to Nick Penner.

Ford (16-4) had his four fight win streak halted by Dave Hulett at the aforementioned AMMA 8 card, who caught the veteran with a first round, guillotine choke. Before the loss, Ford was reported to be headed to Bellator, after scoring wins over Karo Pariysan Nick Hinchliffe and Johnny Davis earlier in the year.

Steele (8-1) has won back-to-back bouts over Layne McTaggart and most recently Ben Stewart, after being submitted by Curtis Demarce at a Maximum Fighting Championship card in September, 2010.

“This is a huge opportunity for me, and I am grateful to Aggression for making it happen,” Steele was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “I want to make it to the UFC, and this could be the fight that puts me one step closer to the call that every fighter dreams of. I know what I have to do to get there, and that’s take on the best and beat the best. Unfortunately for Ryan Ford, he’s put himself right in my path, and I’ve got to go through him.”

AMMA has also confirmed that Stephan Beaumont (5-0) and Markhaile “Showtime” Wedderburn (10-10) will be competing on the February 11th card, however, no opponents have been announced.
