Fighter Won’t be Ready for September as Hoped

By Kelsey Mowatt

It’s been more than a couple months now since Jordan Mein broke his right orbital bone during his memorable, stoppage loss to Matt Brown at UFC on FOX 7, and the 23 year-old has begun mapping out his return.

Lee Mein, who is Jordan’s father and one of his instructors, recently told Full Contact Fighter that the welterweight’s “eye is healed up great” and that he’s hoping to fight again in November.

When FCF spoke with Lee Mein in May, the veteran fighter and coach relayed that they were hoping to have Jordan fight at UFC 165 in September. The timeline for Mein’s return, however, has been pushed back:

“We want to make sure we have time to put a good camp in and work on new things, and not be rushed to get it all together for September,” Lee Mein noted.

Prior to facing Brown in April, Jordan Mein recorded a successful Octagon debut at UFC 158 in March, by stopping Dan Miller.

Mein then agreed to fight Brown on short notice as a replacement for Dan Hardy.

The Lethbridge fighter has gone 3-2 now in UFC and Strikeforce bouts and is 8-2 in his last 10.
