Now that Junior dos Santos has taken out Derrick Lewis, the former heavyweight champ is clearly interested in facing another of the UFC’s top contenders, Francis Ngannou.

Dos Santos faced Lewis in the main event of UFC Wichita on Saturday, and he finished the powerful heavyweight in round two with strikes. Heading into the card, Lewis was ranked #3 and dos Santos was #8.

After the event, dos Santos was asked about the possibility of fighting the #2 ranked Ngannou next, and “Cigano” said this (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I think that would be great,” dos Santos said. “It should’ve happened in the past, but because of something weird it didn’t happen. Maybe now it can happen.”

“Right now I need a break. I need to stay active that’s the most important thing right now. Before my career comes my family. My daughter is born in May. I need to get ready to receive her. … I’ll fight again maybe at the end of August.”

Ngannou, meanwhile, tweeted out this during last night’s card.

Ngannou is coming off quick, stoppage wins over Curtis Blaydes and Cain Velasquez, after losing by decision to Lewis last July.
