Antonio Silva is reporting that the surgery he recently underwent was successful, which the heavyweight was expected to undergo, even before he fought Andrei Arlovski at UFC Fight Night 51.

Silva, who suffers from acromegaly, had a cyst removed from his pituitary gland in a Brazilian hospital. The 35 year-old fighter reported on Instagram afterwards:

my surgery was a success, i’ll be back soon.Thank you to everyone who sent me their positive thoughts and energy…

“Bigfoot” is coming off a first round, knockout loss to Arlovski on September 13th, which marked the first time he has fought this year. Prior to that, at a Fight Night card last December, Silva battled Mark Hunt to a majority draw.

The American Top Team Fighter is 2-2-1 in his last 5 fights and carries an overall record of 18-6-1.
