UFC’s Dana White Says Jon Jones “Should Focus on His Pending Legal Matters”
By FCF Staff
Until Tuesday, no members of the UFC brass had commented publicly on Jon Jones’ recent arrest, but Dana White appeared on the latest edition of “UFC Tonight” to discuss the situation.
Yesterday, the UFC announced that it has suspended Jones indefinitely, and stripped him of the light-heavyweight title, following his arrest on felony hit-and-run charges. While discussing the promotion’s decision to strip Jones of the championship, here is some of what White had to say (quote via FOX Sports press release):
“This is the first time we’ve ever done it. Guys have been cut for different reasons.”
“He should focus on his pending legal matters.”
The UFC President also relayed that Jones “wasn’t happy” and was “upset” when he was informed that he was no longer champion.
Jones was scheduled to fight Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23rd. Daniel Cormier has been tapped to fight Johnson for the now, vacant light-heavyweight title.
