Although it remains to be seen if and when Georges St. Pierre will return to fighting, UFC President Dana White says the decorated fighter would be tapped for a title shot, if he desires.

As St. Pierre continues to recover from knee surgery, his coach Firas Zahabi recently told ESPN.com that he believes the former champ has “a few fights in him.” Zahabi also confirmed that the Montreal fighter will begin training lightly next month.

Following his title defense via split decision versus Johny Hendricks last year, St. Pierre announced he was taking a break from competition due to personal reasons. The renowned fighter has also argued that the current state of drug testing in MMA is unacceptable.

In White’s weekly interview with UFC.com, here is what the ZUFFA exec had to say about GSP, and the whether the welterweight would receive a title shot.

“It would be tough to deny that GSP comes right back and doesn’t fight for the title, you know what I mean?” White said. “GSP can do whatever he wants. If he wants to come back and fight for the title, or if he wants a fight before that – he can do whatever he wants.”

The 33 year-old fighter announced his hiatus last November armed with a 12 fight win streak.
