UFC’s Targeting Donald Cerrone vs. Justin Gaethje
By FCF Staff
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is close to adding another, compelling lightweight fight to its upcoming schedule, as Donald Cerrone will likely face fellow contender Justin Gaethje next.
UFC President Dana White confirmed to Yahoo Sports that the fight will serve as the headliner for the UFC’s September 14th card in Vancouver, British Columbia. A follow up report from ESPN MMA says that the fight is close to being finalized.
Cerrone (36-12) is coming off a TKO loss (due to doctor stoppage) to former interim champ Tony Ferguson last month. The longtime contender had won three in a row prior to that.
Gaethje (20-2) hasn’t fought since March when he quickly knocked out Edson Barboza. The former WSOF champ is 3-2 in his last five bouts.
