UFC President Dana White recently reported that the promotion hopes to hold an event in Edmonton, Alberta soon, and today, the director of Canadian operations Tom Wright relayed Halifax, Nova Scotia is also being targeted.

The Nova Scotia city is the largest center in Atlantic Canada, and is located right beside Cole Harbour, which is where UFC lightweight contender TJ Grant resides.

Wright noted that the chances of the promotion hosting an event in Halifax are “extremely good”, and that the event would probably take place in 2014 or 2015. Wright added that he’s had conversations with officials from the city’s Metro Convention Centre, and credited the market for being the region’s commercial centre.

The Zuffa executive also noted that the promotion is considering Saskatoon, Quebec City and Edmonton as new Canadian markets to enter. To date, the UFC has hosted events in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and Winnipeg. The promotion has committed to hosting annual cards in Montreal and Toronto.

Wright relayed the news while speaking at a press conference today in Toronto, to promote the September 21st, UFC 165 card, which will feature Jon Jones taking on Alexander Gustafsson.
