Although Glover Teixeira may have secured a light-heavyweight title shot tonight at UFC Fight Night 28 in Belo Horizonte, the highly regarded fighter’s 19 fight winning streak was tested by Ryan Bader.

Bader appeared to be the faster fighter of the two, and was able to land several hard punches early on, which prompted Teixeira to shoot in for a takedown. Although the Brazilian vet was able to take Bader to the mat, the All-American wrestler returned to his feet and stunned Teixeira once more.

As Bader swarmed in on his opponent, Teixeira floored the former TUF winner with a hard left hook, and finished the fight off with follow up punches. After the bout Teixeira relayed that he may have been overconfident heading into the bout. With the win, Teixeira has now won 20 straight bouts.

In the co-main-event, “Jacare” Souza quickly got the better of Yushin Okami, as the jiu-jitsu star dropped the perennial middleweight contender with a overhand right a couple of minutes in. After Souza continued to drop down blows from above the bout was brought to a halt.
