Undefeated Bautista Fighting TUF Vet McGillivray at MFC 32

McGillivray

By FCF Staff

Just days removed from the news that former “Ultimate Fighter” competitor Ryan McGillivray is returning to the Maximum Fighting Championship, the promotion has announced that the welterweight will fight the undefeated Diego Bautista on January 27th.

Bautista (7-0) hasn’t competed since January, when he scored a split decision over Preston Scharf, while fighting for Long Beach Fight Night.

“I’m going to make an exciting impression,” Bautista was quoted saying in a MFC press release. “It’s going to come down to what I know how to do and what I’m capable of doing.”

“I’ve got a good ground game and I like to stand and bang too,” Bautista added, who turned pro in 2008. “If he wants to take it to the ground, I’ll go and I’ll punish him and I’ll finish it. I’m too determined to not finish the fight.”

McGillivray (11-5-1) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Shamar Bailey at the TUF 13 Finale in June. The defeat ended McGillivray’s four fight undefeated streak, which included wins over Canadian vets Andrew Buckland and Markhaile Wedderburn.

MFC 32 “Bitter Rivals” will be hosted by Edmonton’s Mayfield Conference Center and will be broadcast live on HDNet.
