Undefeated Chris Weidman To Face Demian Maia At UFC On Fox 2

Chris Weidman

By FCF Staff

Undefeated 27-year-old prospect Chris Weidman (7-0) got a huge break today when he was called up to face Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist Demian Maia (15-3), live on Fox, on Jan. 28.

Weidman will fill the spot that Michael Bisping vacated when Bisping was called upon to replace injured Mark Munoz in a matchup with Chael Sonnen on the UFC on Fox 2 card.

In his last effort, Weidman secured his third win under the UFC banner, a technical submission victory over Tom Lawler at UFC 139 in November.  Weidman is a two-time NCAA All-American Division I wrestler for Hofstra University in Uniondale, New York.

The 34-year-old Maia of Brazil will look for his second consecutive win when he faces Weidman.  In his last start at UFC 136 on Oct. 8, Maia earned a unanimous decision over countryman Jorge Santiago
