Update: Rafael Natal Says Costantinos Phillippou New UFC 133 Opponent

By FCF Staff

Following Riki Fukuda’s Twitter announcement that he has injured his left leg in a recent a car accident and will no longer fight as scheduled at UFC 133, original opponent Rafael Natal has since ‘tweeted’ that Costantinos Phillippou will be his new opponent.

UFC 133 will take place August 6th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA, and will feature a light-heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis in the main event.

Phillippou (7-2) is coming off an unsuccessful Octagon debut in March, when he lost by unanimous decision to Nick Catone at UFC 128. The New York fighter and Serra-Longo fight team member has gone 7-1 with one no contest while competing for Ring of Combat, and has not lost since his pro debut in May, 2008.

Natal (12-3-1) hasn’t fought since UFC 124 in December, when the Gracie Fusion fighter battled to a draw with middleweight Jesse Bongfeldt, after losing by UD to Rich Attonito at Fight Night 22 last September. Prior to signing with the UFC in 2010, “Sapo” scored a first round, knockout win over Travis Lutter at a Moosin event last May.

The UFC has not announced any changes yet to the UFC 133 card.
