After being taken out by Petr Yan at UFC 245 last weekend, Urijah Faber isn’t officially calling it quits on his stories career. But, the UFC Hall of Famer says it will take the right kind of fight to get him back in the Octagon.

At UFC 245, the 40-year-old Faber was competing for the second time since he ended his retirement earlier this year, and stopped Ricky Simon. The former WEC champ absorbed several, hard strikes during the bout, and Yan finished the fight in round three.

Since then, “The California Kid” appeared on Ariel Helwani’s “MMA Show”. While discussing his future, Faber said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“I’m not going to be pursuing the belt at this moment,” Faber said. “I’m going to be chilling with the family, staying in great shape, staying in the gym, and it’s a ‘I could or I couldn’t.’”

“…I’m not doing a fight just to have a fight,” Faber said. “I’ll do it on my terms if I want to do it to celebrate my birthday, or if there’s something that’s really intriguing.”

Faber currently carries a record of 35-11 after being defeated at UFC 245. The 26-year-old Yan, meanwhile, has gone 6-0 to date in the UFC and has a record of 14-1.
