Despite Conor McGregor’s run of setbacks, which includes incurring a devastating injury, Urijah Faber believes the star will likely be victorious in his comeback fight.

McGregor is expected to face Michael Chandler later this year, who he coached against in the latest season of “The Ultimate Fighter”. The date for the fight has yet to be finalized, but recently Faber was asked to weigh-in on the contest, while talking to ESPN (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“Traditionally in the past – you know, old-school MMA – I would have said the high-level wrestler’s always going to win,” Faber said. “But Conor, I feel, has closed those gaps a lot. I think Chandler takes a lot of big risks and likes to fight wild and aggressive, and I’ve seen many times where Conor’s power is just too much and his precision’s too much, and I think it’s going to be, in a five-round fight, leaning toward McGregor.”

The 34-year-old McGregor (22-6) hasn’t competed since July, 2021, when he broke his leg during a rubber match fight with Dustin Poirier. The former featherweight and lightweight champ has recorded just one victory since 2016.

The 37-year-old Chandler (23-8), meanwhile, is coming off a submission loss to Poirier in November. The decorated wrestler has gone 2-3 in his last 5 fights.

TUF 30 will premiere on May 30th.
