Vitor Belfort is up For “Money Fight” With Anderson Silva

Vitor Belfort

Following his first round, defeat to “Jacare” Souza in May, it looks as though Vitor Belfort is interested in rematching former middleweight champ Anderson Silva.

The UFC reportedly tried booking the rematch earlier this year, but Belfort wanted to wait and see how the middleweight title shot picture would play out. Since he was defeated by Souza, however, Belfort is no longer in title shot contention.

Recently the Brazilian star spoke to Combate, and while doing so, Belfort said this about Silva (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I have interest in any fight. A fight that has a meaning, but I think this would be a money fight, yes,” Belfort said. “I have interest in big fights, and this would be a big fight, for sure. It has to be something that pleases all three sides: Anderson, Vitor and the UFC.”

“The UFC does super fights. Like this one they did with Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor,” he added. “If they want to do it, they have what it takes. I think that, in fact, it’s a matter of negotiation, and I’d say we’re also in a good phase. We did a lot for the sport and I believe this would be a good time for both of us to profit if something like this happens.

Silva, who KO’d Belfort back in 2011, is coming off a decision loss to Michael Bisping in February.
