Vitor Belfort Repeats Call For Legends League, Interested in Fighting Chuck Liddell
By FCF Staff
Although no UFC officials have publicly expressed any interest in creating a legends league, Vitor Belfort continues to call on the promotion to do just that. In addition, the 40 year-old, Brazilian star is interested in booking a rematch with the 47 year-old, and retired, Chuck Liddell.
Belfort is set to fight Nate Marquardt tomorrow at UFC 212. Earlier this year “The Phenom” said his next bout would be hist last. But more recently, Belfort’s reported that he feels reinvigorated after training at Tristar, and that he wants to keep fighting.
Recently Belfort spoke with MMA Fighting, and the veteran fighter repeated his call for the UFC to create a legends division. In addition, Belfort said a rematch with Liddell is “very interesting”, and that he believes fans would like to see the bout.
Belfort and Liddell fought in 2002, and “The Iceman” won the contest via unanimous decision. More recently, there’s been speculation in terms of whether Liddell might be considering a comeback. The former light-heavyweight champ hasn’t fought since 2010, when he was knocked out by Rich Franklin.
