Weidman-Silva II Booked for December 28th, UFC 168
By FCF Staff
Exactly one week after Chris Weidman shocked the MMA world by knocking out Anderson Silva, and the legendary fighter said he wasn’t interested in a rematch, the UFC has announced that the two will fight again, December 28th, at UFC 168. The card’s original headliner featuring UFC women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey taking on Miesha Tate will be the co-main-event.
After Weidman stopped Silva in the second round at the July 6th, UFC 162 card, Silva said he had no intention of pursuing the middleweight belt. At the post fight press conference, the former champ said he wanted to take some time to think about what he wants to do next, but a few days later, reports surfaced saying Silva had changed his mind.
Weidman moved to 10-0 with the win over Silva, while “The Spider” had his awe inspiring 17 fight win streak snapped.
UFC 168 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card will be available via pay-per-view.
