White Says Marquardt “No Longer” With UFC After Failing Medicals

By FCF Staff

Not only has the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced this afternoon that Nate Marquardt will no longer fight Rick Story tomorrow night due to “late medical licensing issues,” according to a follow up announcement from President Dana White, the veteran has been released from the promotion.

Speaking by video on Tout.com, White announced that in addition to Marquardt “failing his medicals,” the former middleweight “will no longer be with the UFC.”

The UFC has not released any specific information as to why Marquardt (pictured) was not cleared to compete at the UFC Live on Versus card as scheduled, tomorrow night in Pittsburgh, PA.

The promotion did announce, however, that Charlie Brenneman has agreed to step in and fight Story. Brenneman had been prepared to fight T.J. Grant at Sunday’s card, but Grant was forced to withdraw just days before the event due to illness.

The heavyweight bout between noted strikers Pat Barry and Cheick Kongo has been moved into the main event slot.
