WSOF 11: Dennis Hallman Replacing Injured Josh Burkman

Dennis Hallman

By FCF Staff

Jon Fitch has yet another opponent booked to fight him July 5th, at World Series of Fighting 11, as the promotion has announced Josh Burkman has withdrawn due to injury.

As a result, Fitch will take on another UFC vet in Dennis Hallman, who is the fourth fighter to be booked for the bout. An elbow injury is reportedly the cause of Burkman’s withdrawal.

Originally, Fitch was scheduled to fight newly crowned champ Rousimar Palhares, but the feared submission artist withdrew so he could attend to his ill mother. Then Jake Shields was signed for the bout, but he also was forced to withdraw as a result of injury.

News of the latest match-up was reported by MMA Fighting.com and the promotion has re-tweeted the announcement.

Hallman is coming off a submission win over Aleksey Shapovalov, and has won three straight. The vet was also booked to compete in BattleGround MMA’s June 27th, welterweight tournament, but Hallman told MMA Fighting he has elected to face Fitch instead.

Fitch (25-6-1) scored a split decision win over Marcelo Alfaya in his last outing, after being choked out by Burkman last June.

WSOF 11 will be hosted by Daytona, Florida and the main card will be broadcast on NBC.
