Here are the results from tonight’s World Series of Fighting event in Coral Gables, Florida, which saw Steve Carl defeat Josh Burkman and win the promotion’s first welterweight title.

After three competitive rounds, Carl caught Burkman with a fourth round, triangle-choke, which appeared to choke the UFC vet out as he attempted to tap. The newly crowned champ revealed afterwards that he’s been unable to train for the last two weeks due to a back injury.

In another main card bout, former UFC welterweight contender Jon Fitch got back on track, as he worked his way to a decision win over Marcelo Alfaya. Fitch was coming off losses to Burkman at WSOF 3 and Demian Maia at UFC 156.
