As many expected would be the case, Justin Gaethje laid claim to World Series of Fighting’s inaugural lightweight title tonight in Hollywood, Florida, by quickly taking out Rich Patishnock.

The undefeated fighter came out firing, and after stunning Patishnock with a winging right hook, Gaethje continued to pour on elbows and punches. Patishnock valiantly fought back, and appeared to land some shots of his own, but after absorbing several more blows the bout was mercifully stopped.

In the card’s other title fight, strawweight Jessia Aguilar needed less than three minutes to tap out Alida Gray with an arm-triangle-choke. With the win, the American Top Team fighter becomes the first WSOF 115 pound champion.

And at light-heavyweight, Anthony Johnson instantly floored Mike Kyle with a thumping right hook, shortly after the two minute mark. The UFC vet has won six straight fights and is set to enter free agency.
