LAS VEGAS, NV  October 15, 2015 World Series of Fighting – Global Championship (WSOF-GC) has announced a heavyweight championship main event for their inaugural event in Hainan, China on November 21. The match up will pit former The Ultimate Fighter contestant, Jeremy May (13-8), against rising Russian knockout artist, Evgeny Erokhin (11-4).

American Top Team fighter, Jeremy May, took a two and a half year break from the sport in 2011 to reverse the trend of athletes dropping to lower weight classes. Jeremy did the opposite by utilizing diet and exercise to move up to heavyweight. Since returning in late 2013, “The Bamf” has been undefeated with four first-round submission wins, including wins over former UFC fighter, Darrill Schoonover, and the very formidable Alexei Kudin.

Russian import, Evgeny Erokhin, brings his own impressive win streak into the decagon with six straight wins via knockout, including wins over Brett Rogers, Mike Kyle, Jeff Monson and Tim Hague.

Also on the main card, a pair of lightweight matchups between Carlo Prater (31-16-1) vs Dylan Fussell (8-2) and Khusein Khaliev (13-1) vs Yoshihiro Koyama (21-8-2) will set up the very first WSOF-GC Lightweight Champion, with the winners of those bouts already signed to compete for the title on a future card.

Brazil’s Prater will bring more experience to the event than any other fighter invited and looking to add to an already impressive career resume. That task won’t be easy, as quick-rising USA-born Fussell is happy to welcome the veteran to Asia, where he has been training and competing over the past few years.

Russia’s Khaliev has had a great run in both the Russian and American circuit in smaller promotions and is looking forward to testing his skills in a much larger promotion. Welcoming him will be Japan’s Koyama, one of the most exciting fighters from that region, who plans to keep the first WSOF-GC lightweight world title in Asia.

“This really is what it’s all about,” said Jason Lilly, Vice President of Operations and Matchmaker for WSOF-GC. “We have a classic matchup of two heavyweights that are competing at an incredibly high level, who between them have finished their last 10 fights. On top of that, we have a lightweight championship qualifier with four fighters representing four distinct geographical regions in the world. We don’t want to have a ‘regional’ world champion. We want a ‘global’ world champion, pitting the best athletes from around the world against each other.”

WSOF-GC will host its inaugural event at Haikou Arena in Haikou, Hainan province of China, on November 21.
