World Series of Fighting has announced that it has elected to release Jessica Aguilar, so that the strawweight champ can pursue other fighting opportunities.

In a press release from the promotion on Monday, WSOF President Ray Sefo was quoted saying:

“We wish Jessica all the best, and hope that she will achieve everything she wants to in her career that is blossoming,” said WSOF President Ray Sefo.  “We sat down with Jessica and her manager and we all agreed that she needs to move on to a place where she can compete against the best 115 pound women in the world.

“We have an incredible and fast-growing roster of world-class athletes at WSOF,” continued Sefo, “but we do not have the best fighters in this particular women’s weight class, so it was time to shake hands and amicably part ways.”

The 33 year-old Aguilar went 3-0 during her run with WSOF to push her record to 19-4. Now that the UFC is promoting a 115 pound division, one would think “JAG” is likely Octagon bound.
