WSOF Signs UFC Vet Melvin Guillard
By FCF Staff
Not surprisingly, it didn’t take UFC veteran Melvin Guillard long to find a new employer, as the powerful lightweight has announced he’s signed with World Series of Fighting.
Guillard was released by the UFC recently, following a unanimous decision loss to Michael Johnson, on March 8th. The defeat was the 31 year-old figher’s third in five fights.
Both Guillard and WSOF announced the new deal via Twitter:
Just signed with WSOF it feeling good to be apart of something different its time to make some real money and get that belt.

The promotion’s Executive VP, Ali Abdelaziz, also tweeted:

Guillard’s (31-13-2) first opponent with WSOF has yet to be announced.
The American Top Team fighter spent nine years with the UFC, after competing on the second season of TUF. In 2010 and 2011 Guillard put together a five fight winning streak, before getting submitted by Joe Lauzon at UFC 136.
