UFC 300 has had an additional layer of history attached to it, as the upcoming card will include the promotion’s first title fight ever, in which both fighters are from China.

Recently, UFC President Dana White announced via social media that the April 13th card will see women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili take on her fellow, Chinese citizen, Yan Xianonan.

Weili (24-3) defended her title in August by recording a unanimous decision win over Amanda Lemos. The fight was Weili’s first title defense since she reclaimed the strawweight title for a second time in November, 2022, by submitting Carla Esparza.

Xiaonan (17-3), meanwhile, hasn’t competed since May when she knocked out Jessica Andrade.  That fight followed Xiaonan’s decision win over Mackenzie Dern in October, 2022.

UFC 300 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The card’s headliner has yet to be announced.
