HOOKnSHOOT Meltdown Results

The presence of Japanese press, representatives of Japan’s SHOOTO organization and AMC PANKRATION founder Matt Hume added a new level of excitement to Indiana’s growing Mixed Martial Arts show HOOKnSHOOT. "This was the highest level show we have had to date, the level of competition just shot up, especially in the matches with the new rules" stated promoter Jeff Osborne.

ABSOLUTE STYLE: (1 round – 10 minute match)

(LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHTS) Josh Weatherholt def. Don Comley – Ref Stoppage 2:20
Comley protested, believing the stop to be premature. Tape to be reviewed.

SPECIAL ABSOLUTE STYLE MATCHES: (3 Rounds – 5 minutes each)

HOOKnSHOOT introduced rounds for the first time in its 4 year, 20+ show history. Promoter Jeff Osborne said, "We have a chance to work with SHOOTO and also Matt Hume’s UFCF organization in Seattle. This is our first attempt to work with them, and this is part of the work we have started – to come together under a unified set of rules. I think the results will speak for itself – all the competitors came to show their stuff tonight, but it was the new SHOOTO style rules that really seemed to pick up the level of competition."

(LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHTS) Wesley Bockert def. Luke Pedigo – Ref Stoppage (Broken Nose) 1:57 Round 1.

(LIGHTWEIGHTS) Tony Dedolph def. Mike Lee – TKO :28 seconds Round 2

Horn shines in Extreme Challenge XXXIII

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Jeremy Horn returned to his hometown and made a solid impression on his fans at Harveys Casino.
Horn, a 5-time UFC veteran, dominated previously unbeaten Nate Parmelee in the Super Bout, scoring a KO victory with a forearm smash to the back of the head at the 3:24 mark of the first round. Horn improved his record to 41-5-4, while Parmelee, from Sioux City, suffered his first loss in 12 bouts.
In other key bouts, Mark Hughes, the twin brother of UFC and WEF star Matt Hughes, won his third straight bout, scoring a TKO over Neal Binkley of Omaha at 1:01 of the first round. Hughes used his wrestling skills to get an early takedown and bloodied Binkley’s nose badly with a variety of punches to the face before referee Tim Sanchez halted the bout.
Mike Hueser, an up-and-coming fighter from the Miletich Martial Arts Center, captured a 4-man tournament title by beating two opponents in a total of less than 2 minutes. Hueser, now 4-0, won by guillotine in :45 against Clyde Oakes, then by armbar in 1:06 against Mitch Rosland in the finals.
Local heroes Dave Drey and Danko Pike also captured impressive victories via punches. One no-show and a fighter being injured the day before the show forced a few changes, which resulted in Ironman Travis Fulton not having an opponent for the show.
The next Extreme Challenge events are: June 17 at LCO Casino in Hayward, Wis., and June 29 at the RiverCenter in Davenport, Iowa.

Complete results:
Jimmy Hahn def. Kurt marble, 3:45 by ankle lock

4-man tourney
Mitch Rosland def. Joe Leggett, 1:02 by crucifix
Mike Hueser def. Clyde Oakes, :45 by guillotine
final
Hueser def. Rosland, 1:06 by armbar

Randy Durant def. Bernie Kaminski, 15:00 by unaninous dec.
Danko Pike def. Jason Fulcher, 1:40 by TKO
Mark Hughes def. Neal Binkley, 1:01 by TKO
Dave Drey def. Chad Gilson, :47 by TKO

Super Bout

Earwood, Schmitz eye EC lightweight title

HAYWARD, Wis. — For Ben Earwood and Tom Schmitz, the retirement of longtime Extreme Challenge champion turned UFC fighter Shonie Carter couldn’t have come at a more advantageous time.
Carter’s success in the UFC has given an opportunity to Earwood and Schmitz, who will face off for the Extreme Challenge lightweight (170 pounds) championship on June 17 at LCO Casino.
Every Extreme Challenge champion has advanced to the UFC with the exception of heavyweight title holder Bobby Hoffman, who has had to reject several UFC offers due to prior committments with RINGS in Japan.
Earwood, 11-2, competes for Miletich Martial Arts Center and has a tourney triumph at Super Brawl and many EC wins to his credit. Schmitz, 3-2, was a semifinalist in the Extreme Best of the Best tourney (losing to UFC star Matt Hughes) and trains at Minnesota Martial Arts.
Two tournaments are also on tap with some of the top talent in the Midwest and a couple fighters from England who are looking to make a name for themselves in the U.S.
Tickets are available by calling 1-800-526-2274 and asking for the LCO gift shop.
