Michael Chandler Signs With UFC, Will Serve as Backup For Nurmagomedov vs. Gaethje

Following reported indications that the UFC was close to signing Michael Chandler, the promotion has announced that it has added the former Bellator lightweight champ to its roster.
Recently UFC President Dana White announced on ESPN SportsCenter that the 34-year-old has signed with the promotion. In addition, White confirmed that Chandler will serve as a backup fighter for the October 24th, Khabib Nurmagomedov – Justin Gaethje title fight.

Chandler (21-5) fought under the Bellator banner for over ten years and won the lightweight title three times during his run.
Most recently the decorated wrestler knocked out former UFC champ Benson Henderson in August.
