Jamahal Hill Vacates UFC’s Light-Heavyweight Title Due to Injury
By FCF Staff
Jamahal Hill’s reign as the UFC’s light-heavyweight champion has unfortunately ended, without the fighter ever participating in a title defense.
Hill won the light-heavyweight title this past January, by recording a unanimous decision win over Glover Teixeira. Hill was expected to fight former champ Jiri Prochazka, later this year.
But, recently Hill (12-1) announced on his YouTube channel that he’s torn his Achilles’ tendon, and as a result, he’s decided to vacate the belt. Hill cited Prochazka doing the same thing, when he vacated the title, after learning a shoulder injury would sideline him for multiple months.
In a follow-up report from MMA Fighting, sources told the outlet that Hill incurred the injury, while playing a basketball game with several fighters prior to UFC 290.
