Donald Cerrone Announces Return to Drug Testing Pool in Plan to Reach 50 UFC Fights
By FCF Staff
Donald Cerrone had said he was thinking about ending his retirement, and now the legendary fighter’s confirmed he plans to reach the 50 UFC fight mark.
Cerrone (36-17), who is now 41, retired in July, 2022, following a submission loss to Jim Miller. The defeat extended “Cowboy’s” winless streak to 7.
During a recent appearance on the “Pacman Jones Show”, Cerrone confirmed that he’s re-entered the drug testing pool, as a means to return to the Octagon (quote via MMA Junkie.com).
“I just re-entered the testing pool. I have to be six months clean. Probably June, July we will make the comeback. Coming back for two more. Just two more. I want 50 fights in the UFC (under Zuffa). I promised the wife no matter what happens, no matter the outcomes – two more and that’s it.”
Cerrone, who openly admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs during retirement, also noted that he will likely compete at middleweight. “Cowboy” has reportedly already been tested once, since re-entering the drug testing program, and did not test positive for any banned substances.
