Michael Morales is almost certainly moving into the top ten of the UFC’s welterweight rankings, after quickly finished perennial contender, Gilbert Burns.

The rising welterweight faced Burns in the headliner of UFC Vegas 106, and prompted the stoppage with a flurry of punches before the four-minute mark.

With the win, the 25-year-old Morales moved his overall record to 18-0. The 38-year-old Burns, meanwhile, has lost four straight to leave his record at 22-9.

Heading into UFC Vegas 106, Morlaes was ranked #12 and Burns was sitting in the #8 position.

The card’s original co-headliner between light-heavyweights Paul Craig and Rodolfo Bellato did not take place. Early into the event it was announced Bellato would not compete due to a medical issue.
