Tallison Teixeira could become a top heavyweight contender yet. But, the Brazilian’s ascension up the heavyweight ranks was halted on Saturday by the feared fists of Derrick Lewis.

Not long into the headliner for the UFC’s latest card in Nashville, Lewis sent Teixeira to the deck with a thumping left. Teixeira attempted to recover as the American continued to fire in punches, and pulled himself up via the Octagon fence, but the bout was soon halted.

With the victory, Lewis moved his overall record to 29-12. Teixeira had gone 7 and 0 in pro-bouts, prior to taking his first loss.
