Anthony Hernandez is “Still Not Really Sold” on Khamzat Chimaev
By FCF Staff
Khamzat Chimaev has dominated nearly all of the opposition he’s faced to date, and is the betting lines favorite to win the middleweight title at UFC 319. But, recently Anthony Hernandez outlined why he believes Dricus Du Plessis will hear ‘and still’ on August 16th.
Chimaev has been booked to face the middleweight champ on account of going 8 and 0 in the UFC. In his last outing, this past October, the Chechen fighter submitted former champ Robert Whittaker in the opening round.
Ahead of Hernandez’s fight with Roman Dolidze this Saturday, the middelweight contender spoke with MMA Junkie.com. While doing so, Hernandez reported he thinks “DDP” will pull off an upset at UFC 319.
“I think DDP is going to shock the world again. He’s a big, tough, awkward motherf*cker, and I’m still not really sold on Khamzat. I understand he’s good, and he’s dangerous, yada yada, but he’s kind of fought all small guys who have come up. (Kamaru) Usman gave him a run for his money off the couch, so how does he do with somebody that’s like a real 85’er?”
Hernandez (14-2), meanwhile, is riding a seven fight winning streak. In his last outing in February, the 31 year-old American recorded a unaimous decision win over Brendan Allen.
Currently, Hernandez is ranked #10 in the UFC’s middleweight division and Dolidze (15-3) is ranked #9.
The Dolidze – Hernandez bout will headline UFC Vegas 109, which will be hosted by the Apex facility.
