Alex Caceres on Reebok UFC Uniforms: It “Kind of Kills The Individuality And Uniqueness”
By FCF Staff
Before Alex Caceres fights for the first time tonight with a UFC Reebok kit on, the bantamweight says he’s concerned the uniform agreement is destroying individuality in the sport.
Caceres will take on Masio Fullen tonight at UFC on FOX 18, which will mark the first time “Bruce Leeroy” has fought since September, 2014. Recently Caceres spoke to MMA Fighting.com, and while doing so, he said this about the Reebok deal:
“I haven’t fought under the Reebok deal yet. I can’t entirely say whether it’s benefiting me or not,” Caceres said. “What I don’t like about it, when they brought us together and talked to us about it, was I feel like it kind of kills the individuality and uniqueness of the persona of the people in the sport.
“I feel like we can’t necessarily be ourselves anymore because we have to wear what they want us to wear, do what they want us to do…”
Fighters must wear Reebok gear during all the events of fight week, as part of the company’s uniform deal with the UFC.
