Alexander Gustafsson’s Manager is Adamant Contender Will Still Win UFC’s 205 Crown

Although Alexander Gustafsson has been defeated two times now by Jon Jones, the Swedish star’s manager still has no doubt his client will win the UFC’s light-heavyweight title at some point.
Gustafsson faced Jones for the vacant 205 belt at UFC 232 last month, and was stopped by the latter in round three. The fight marked the second time Gustafsson has been defeated by the renowned fighter, as in 2013, Jones earned a tightly contested, decision win over the contender.
More recently, Gustafsson’s manager Nima Safapour issued a statement to MMA Junkie, and in it, the manager said this:
“The plan is to come back stronger than ever. The fight was the fight. We still believe 100 percent that Alex can beat Jones. Just depends on the day. Anyone can win depending on the circumstances of the fight. It was not our day, but we will come back and get the title in due time either from Jon or whoever else is holding the title at that time. Expect to see ‘The Mauler’ back in action soon.”
Following UFC 232, Gustafsson is ranked #2 in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division. Prior to facing Jones for a second time, “The Mauler” stopped Glover Teixeira in 2017.
