Alistair Overeem Dodges Legal Bullet, Gets Paid Purse By UFC For Lesnar Fight

Former Overeem management team, Golden Glory, intends to recover money from Overeem’s cut of UFC 141 Pay-Per-View buys

Roderick J. Lindblom, Esq., attorney for Golden Glory and Knock Out Investment, the former management team of UFC heavyweight superstar Alistair Overeem, issued another statement today acknowledging that the UFC paid Overeem his base purse of $241,000 for Saturday’s main event showdown with Brock Lesnar, but that Lindblom’s clients intend to utilize a court order issued by a Nevada District Court judge to recover management commission fees Overeem allegedy owes to Golden Glory and Knock Out Investments from the UFC 141 Pay-Per-View revenue commission that Overeem receives according to his contract with the fight promotion.

“This was a short-term possibility that KOI (Knock Out Investment) and Golden Glory were prepared for,” said Lindblom in a statement. “Seeking the initial writ was merely the first step in a long-term litigation strategy that KOI and Golden Glory will prosecute in Nevada. The writ of attachment remedy remains fully available to my clients and will be sought as to Mr. Overeem’s future pay-per-view payout, which we expect will be more lucrative than his initial fight purse.

Rest assured, now that we have had the opportunity to troubleshoot complex international
hurdles — and without a long holiday weekend to contend with — future writs of
attachment will be utilized to ensure that Mr. Overeem makes good on the commissions
owed to my clients and his Golden Glory training team, who helped him achieve the
success he now enjoys,” continued Lindblom.

Full Contact Fighter, on Saturday, broke the news about the judge’s order and will continue to keep readers posted on this legal dispute.
