Recently Daniel Cormier relayed that he believes it will take a heavyweight to defeat Jon Jones. But another man who has faced the light-heavyweight champ, Anthony Smith, disagrees.

During a recent interview with BT Sport, Cormier said he doesn’t see Jones losing at light-heavyweight and that a heavyweight will be the first fighter to hand “Bones” a legitimate defeat. Since then, Smith spoke with Sirius XM, and the veteran fighter had this to say about Cormier’s comments (quotes via MMA Fighting):

I think a heavyweight would have a much easier time, Smith said. I like Daniel, I work with Daniel, I disagree with Daniel. I dont seeI hear him talk about Jon Jones like that all the time. I didnt see that. Like, I didnt feel like that when I was in there with Jon Jones. Obviously, I had my own issues and I think later on Ill write a book and Ill tell the entire story about it, but I dont feel like that. I didnt feel like I was in there with a dude that was unbeatable.

And when I hear DC talk sometimes, I get the feeling as if hes talking about someone whos unbeatable. Especially a man who was winning the second fight and just got clipped and got put down. I mean, I think all judges had DC up, he was winning every minute of every round up to the point he got kicked.

Cormier failed to defeat Jones in bouts that took place in 2015 and 2017. Smith, meanwhile, lost via decision to Jones in March, 2019.

“Bones” is booked to fight Dominick Reyes at UFC 247, February 8th in Houston, Texas.
