The Ultimate Fighting Championship has confirmed that a featherweight bout between Antonio Carvalho (pictured) and Yuri Alcantara has been added to its upcoming August 27th event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The promotion announced the bout today via its website and Twitter account.
Carvalho (13-4) will make his UFC debut having won three straight fights while competing in his native Canada. Most recently, at a Score Fighting Series event in June, he worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Douglas Evans. The BJJ blackbelt and Shooto vet holds wins over several notable fighters, including Takeshi “Lion” Inoue, Rumina Sato and Hatsu Hioki.
Alcantara (25-3), who is riding an impressive eleven fight win streak, will also make his first Octagon appearance on August 27th. The Brazilian fighter is coming off a first round knockout of Ricardo Lamas at WEC 53 in December. The featherweight has only lost twice in 21 fights since the conclusion of 2007.
UFC 134 will be hosted by Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena and will feature a middleweight bout between champion Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami in the main event.
