BAMMA 17: Oli Thompson Gets Next Opponent, Dropping to 205

By FCF Staff

The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts has announced that former strongman Oli Thompson is moving from heavyweight to light-heavyweight for his next bout, and that he’ll fight Brett McDermott.

The fight will be part of BAMMA 17, which will take place December 6th in Manchester, England.

Thompson (12-7) will be looking to rebound from losses to Mariusz Pudzianowski and Gzim Selmani, while competing for KSW in Poland. The British fighter was quoted saying in BAMMA’s official announcement:

“So pumped up to be making my debut at 205lb at BAMMA 17 , I’m motivated and hungry, that can only mean trouble for Brett. Nobody is the division is as powerful and explosive as I am.”

McDermott (2-1) has recorded back-to-back wins and is coming off a KO win over Paul Bennett, while fighting for Rage in the Cage in April.

“Oli Thompson has fought some of the biggest names on some of  the biggest shows in the MMA circuit, to fight him on a show as great as BAMMA is going to be the highlight of my mma career, he’s a mountain of a man which I’m ready to climb to try and gain the victory”

BAMMA 17 will also feature a lightweight fight between Colin Fletcher and Michael Brightmon.
