Bellator 133: Alexander Shlemenko Hopes to “Correct The Mistake I Made” Following Highlight Reel Victory
By FCF Staff
Alexander Shlemenko scored another, memorable victory last night at Bellator 133, and now the feared striker is gunning for a rematch with middleweight champ, Brandon Halsey.
Shlemenko took out noted kickboxer Melvin Manhoef with a highlight reel, spinning backfist last night, and following the win, the Russian relayed (quote via Bellator press release):
“I hope Bellator heard me and will let me correct the mistake I made in the past and will give me the opportunity to fight for the Bellator Middleweight World Championship against Brandon Halsey.”
“Storm” fought Halsey in September and the latter ended Shlemenko’s reign as champion by choking him out shortly into round one. The loss followed Shlemenko’s technical submission defeat to light-heavyweight Tito Ortiz.
The 30 year-old fighter has won two straight now since he faced Halsey, as in December, Shlemenko defeated Yasubey Enomoto while fighting for Fight Nights in Russia.
