Bellator 299: Four More Fights Confirmed For Dublin Card
By press release
Leading mixed martial arts promotion BELLATOR MMA has today announced a slate of bouts featuring Irish stars to the thrilling BELLATOR 299: Eblen vs. Edwards event slated to take place at Dublin’s iconic 3Arena on Saturday, September 23.
In the welterweight division, hometown favorite Peter “The Showstopper” Queally (13-8-1) returns to battle against Italy’s Daniele Miceli (10-5) in the latest card additions. In the 145-pound division, undefeated Irish sensation Ciaran Clarke (7-0) will put his pristine record on the line as he welcomes Poland’s Przemysław Górny (5-3). Joining the SGB Irelands stars, will be rising talent Darragh “Moville Mauler” Kelly (3-0) who faces off against Jelle Zeegers (2-2), while MMA veterans match up in an encounter which sees Charlie “Relentless” Ward (10-6) take on Gregory Babene (22-11).
The event will air live in on SHOWTIME (US), BBC iPlayer (UK) and Virgin Media Sport (IRE) at 9 p.m. BST/4 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will kick off at 4 p.m. BST/11 a.m. ET and air on the BELLATOR YouTube Channel and BELLATOR channel on Pluto TV (US), as well as BBC iPlayer (UK) and Virgin Media Sport (IRE).
Peter Queally will want to leverage the might of the Irish support to help him replicate his past success inside the cage which saw him compete for the vacated lightweight world title. Standing in his way is BELLATOR newcomer Daniele Miceli who will be aiming to shine on his promotional debut and silence the partisan crowd at the 3Arena.
Submission specialist Ciaran Clarke has continued to dazzle with his thrilling performances and has staked his position as one of the hottest prospects on the BELLATOR roster. The Drogheda native is currently riding a formidable seven-fight win streak and has yet to taste defeat. Clarke enters the fight on the back of a unanimous decision win over Leonardo Sinis at BELLATOR 291, although another triumph will not come easy as debutant Górny comes into the bout undefeated in three fights and will look to make a mark in the division and disrupt Clarke’s ascent into the official BELLATOR rankings.
Nicknamed the “Moville Mauler,” SBG Ireland’s rising star Darragh Kelly will be hoping to maul his next opponent after a dominant ground-and-pound victory against Dorval Jordan in Dublin earlier this year. His challenger, Jelle Zeegers, will be eager to assert himself in the division on his promotional debut.
Meanwhile, Irish veteran Charlie Ward continues to prove age is just a number as he enters the cage in search of success after suffering close back-to-back defeats against England’s No. 1 middleweight challenger Fabian Edwards and Mike Shipman. Against Ward, fellow experienced competitor Gregory Babene will look to derail the Irishman who is renowned for his knockout threat. The Frenchman will look to win his eighth straight fight and solidify himself in the 185-pound division in a contest which is certain to catch the eyes of fight fans.
