Bellator Announces Brandon Halsey to Face Rafael Carvalho For Vacant MW Title
By FCF Staff
After being stripped of Bellator’s middleweight title earlier this year, Brandon Halsey will look to reclaim the belt, when he faces Rafael Carvalho on October 23rd. The bout will be part of Bellator 144, which will take place in Uncasville, Connecticut, and will feature featherweight champion Marcos Galvao taking on former champ, Eduardo Dantas.
Halsey (9-0) was stripped of the championship in May, when he came in over weight for his bout with Kendall Grove. Halsey, who went on to stop Grove in the fourth round, reportedly had a pre-fight injury which hindered his ability to make weight.
Carvalho (11-1), meanwhile, earned a split decision win over Joe Schilling in April and has gone 2-0 with Bellator to date.
Here is the updated line-up for Bellator 144. The main card will be broadcast on Spike.
Bellator Bantamweight Championship Fight: Marcos Galvao (17-6-1) vs. Eduardo Dantas (17-4)
Bellator Middleweight Championship Fight: Brandon Halsey (9-0) vs. Rafael Carvalho (11-1)
Bellator Welterweight Feature Fight: Michael Page (8-0) vs. TBA
Bellator Welterweight Feature Fight: Brennan Ward (11-3) vs. TBA
