Bellator Announces Multi-Fight Deal With Wanderlei Silva
By FCF Staff
Wanderlei Silva’s fighting career is not in fact over, as many expected, as Bellator has announced it has signed the legendary fighter to a multi-fight contract.
The news comes not long after it was announced that the 39 year-old’s lifetime ban from the Nevada Commission, had been reduced to three years. As a result, Silva is eligible to apply for a license in May, 2017. No information as to when Silva will make his Bellator debut was included in the announcement.
Silva (35-12-1) hasn’t fought since 2013 when he knocked out Brian Stann at UFC on FUEL TV 8. The Brazilian star was expected to fight Chael Sonnen in 2014, however, after failing to take a random drug test, Silva was banned by the Nevada Commission. Since that time Silva has been openly critical of the UFC, and just recently, his legal battle with the promotion came to an end.
The former PRIDE champ is 3-2 in his last 5 fights.
