Brendan Schaub Says He’s Been “Banned” From “UFC Now”
By FCF Staff
Brendan Schaub has been highly critical of the UFC’s uniform agreement with Reebok in recent months, and the fighter claims that has cost him his commentating job on “UFC Now”.
After the Reebok agreement was announced, Schaub publicly reported that the deal was going to cost him significant sponsorship money, since fighters are prohibited from wearing other sponsors during fight week. More recently Schaub announced he was taking a hiatus from fighting, and said the Reebok deal was one reason why.
During a recent episode of his podcast with Bryan Callen, “The Fighter and The Kid”, Schaub announced he had been let go from the “UFC Now” Fight Pass show (quote via MMA Junkie.com):
“It’s come to my attention, ‘Big Brown,’ and these aren’t my words, is too controversial and doesn’t fall in line like the rest,” Schaub said. “I guess I’m unsupportive of certain issues that link up with the UFC. So you won’t see ‘Big Brown’ on ‘UFC Now’ anymore. I have (been banned).”
The 32 year-old also added “I’m sorry. I’m supposed to pretend this Reebok deal is good for everyone? I can’t do it”.
Schaub hasn’t fought since December, 2014, when he was stopped by Travis Browne.
