Cagewarriors – Fists Of Fury Quick Results
Cagewarriors – Fists of Fury Quick Results By Jim Burman Jorge Rivera [pictured beating on Andy Langden] was one of a few fighters who put in dazzling performances in Saturday’s Cagewarriors show. The American import impressed UK fight fans with a technical display, showing why many are tipping him for the future. After landing some solid leg kicks at the opening of the match he took the fight to the mat. Once there he worked meticulously for a submission and secured the rear naked for the tap out. Also impressing the crows was 17-year-old Ross "Angry" Pettifer who demonstrated his improved stand up skills recently developed at the infamous Peacocks Gym. Fast gaining notoriety in the UK for his aggressive fighting style he KO’d Glen Appleby in a mean 17 seconds with a roundhouse kick. The fight of the night was delivered by Jean Da Silva (Brazil) and Sammy Shiavo (France). Showman Da Silva demonstrated his usual flamboyance with attempted flying kicks and a jumping oma plata attempt along with his solid grappling game whilst Shiavo punished him with great striking. Da Silva hunted for the submission but Shiavo utilized some great knee strikes and ground and pound skills of his own to neutralize the offence of the Brazilian. Eventually in the third round Da Silva managed to take Shiavo down, take his back and tap him out with a rear naked choke. All in all Cagewarriors pulled off a great show with high production values and some impressive matches with none going the distance.
