By FCF Staff
Another of boxing’s big names will compete in the coming weeks, as Canelo Alvarez has announced he will fight John Ryder in May.
Recently, the decorated fighter announced that he will face Ryder on a May 6th card at the Akron Stadium, nearby Guadalajara, Mexico, where Alvarez is from.
Alvarez’s super middleweight titles will be on the line.
The 32-year-old Alvarez (58-2) is coming off a decision win over Gennady Golovkin in September, which marked the second time he had defeated the renowned boxer. Prior to that, in May, 2022, Alvarez failed in his bid to win the light-heavyweight crown, as he lost via decision to Dmitry Bivol.
The 34-year-old Ryder (32-5) has won four straight bouts. In the English fighter’s last outing this past November, he defeated Zach Parker. The latter was forced to quit due to injury in the fifth round.
