Chad Mendes Says Skin Cream Behind Recent Drug Test Failure, Suspension
By FCF Staff
Following the news that Chad Mendes has been suspended for two years, the longtime, featherweight contender says a skin cream he uses contained the banned substance that has sidelined him until 2018.
Mendes recently appeared on a local radio show in Sacramento. According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, Mendes reported a cream he uses to treat plaque psoriasis, contained GHRP-6, a growth-hormone peptide. That is the banned substance the Team Alpha Male fighter was flagged for.
The 31 year-old went on to say that he’s embarrassed by what’s transpired, but that he understands he can’t expect “special treatment”.
Mendes hasn’t fought since December when he was stopped in the opening round by Frankie Edgar.
