Chael Sonnen Says Tim Kennedy Needs to “Shut up”, Stop Talking About “Stoolgate”
By FCF Staff
Tim Kennedy was, and apparently still is, extremely upset about his controversial loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178, but Chael Sonnen believes the renowned middleweight needs to stop talking about the defeat.
Kennedy appeared to be headed to a victory over Romero on September 27th, as he badly rocked the latter as round two came to an end, so much so, the decorated wrestler had trouble making it back to his stool.
Romero ended up receiving more time in between rounds, however, as excess vaseline had to be removed from his face, and his stool was left behind by his corner. The recovered, ATT fighter proceeded to stop Kennedy shortly into round three, and the latter was understandably, extremely upset about the incident.
Sonnen recently weighed-in on Kennedy’s loss, and comments the vet’s made about the defeat, on his podcast “You’re Welcome” (quote via Mixed Martial Arts.com):
“Tim Kennedy is one cranky and bitter son of a b—–,” said Sonnen. “Have you seen some of the stuff he’s saying lately? He’s threatening to never come back to the sport because he’s so upset about ‘stoolgate.’ This guys is one of these guys that, for me, he gets a pass. I’m an American, he’s an American hero. He served the country well. He did some things. He’s a hero. That’s where it ends. But the guy says some stuff that if he wasn’t a hero… Somebody needs to tell him to shut up. Tim, you gotta stop, man. You’re so bitter.”
The 35 year-old Kennedy has yet to be booked for his next fight. The 18-5 fighter is currently ranked #7 in the UFC’s middleweight division.
