Colby Covington Calls Kamaru Usman a “Cheating Coward”, Following Second Loss to Champ
By FCF Staff
Following the final horn of their UFC 268 battle, it looked like Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington exchanged words of respect. But, while talking to the press afterward, Covington resumed insulting the welterweight champion and accusing him of cheating.
Covington was looking to avenge his 2019, fifth-round, stoppage loss to Usman on Saturday. While the contender landed punishing shots during the competitive fight, Usman dropped Covington twice and outscored him throughout five rounds. Usman was awarded the unanimous decision win.
Immediately after the fight ended, Covington approached Usman and the rivals shook hands while talking. Referee Dan Miragliotta could be overheard acknowledging the two were having a respectful exchange.
That's 5 rounds FULL of action!

During the post-fight presser, however, Covington returned to trashing the renowned fighter (quotes via MMA Mania).
“He’s a cheating coward,” Covington said. “I’ve got no respect for that guy. He’s cheated in multiple fights. He was holding my glove tonight against the cage. In the first round, I shot a takedown, he went bam, bam, twice to the back of my head. Dan Miragliotta is one of the top three best referees in the game. I told him ‘Don’t let this guy hit me in the back of the head!’ Watch the footage. He did!”
“That dazes you real quick. It caught me off guard. More tactics. You’ll never see me try to cheat. I got an unfair shake again, and I still think I got the job done.”
In addition, Covington once again, accused Usman of using performance-enhancing drugs.
“I can’t respect a guy like that. Go look on YouTube! A guy dissected everything that he cheats on. You see the injection marks all over his stomach. The guy’s not a clean fighter. I’m a clean fighter.”
Prior to UFC 268, Usman was awarded a jacket from USADA, after testing clean for banned substances for the 50th time.
