Combate Global: Undefeated Stars Lazaro Dayron and Melissa Amaya Live on Paramount+ This Saturday

By press release

Combate Global today announced a complete, five-bout Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight lineup, featuring the return of undefeated phenoms “El Cazador” Lazaro Dayron (5-0) and Melissa “Mambo” Amaya (5-0), streaming live on Paramount+ from Miami, Fla. on Saturday, April 1.

Saturday’s live Paramount+ stream will begin at 11:30 p.m. ET/10:30 p.m. CT with a pre-show, co-hosted by Combate Global play-by-play announcer Jimmy Smith, and color commentator, Rodolfo Roman.

The first, live Combate Global preliminary card bout will begin at 12 a.m. ET/11 p.m. CT, immediately after the 30-minute pre-show.

Dayron of Havana, Cuba via Miami, Fla. will collide with Nathan “Violent Money” Greyson (6-4) in a bantamweight (135 pounds) bout.

Amaya will take on fellow Spokane, Wash. resident Gillian “Valkyrie” Noll (3-2) in a flyweight (125 pounds) battle.

The 30-year-old  Dayron is a former, nine-time national medalist in freestlyle wrestling in his native Cuba as well as a multiple-time international champion, who exploded onto the Combate Global scene last year with back-to-back wins during the production of the organization’s latest reality series, Duelo de Equipos.

In particular, Dayron’s Combate Global debut –  a matchup with Jose Serral last August 19 – – showed off the Cuban fighter’s high-pressure style of wrestling that he utilizes in tandem with striking on the ground – a style that his trainer Asim Zaidi has dubbed “smesh grappling” – and a strategy that led him to a first round (1:34) TKO (strikes) of Serral.

Greyson of London, England is a former U.K. MMA champion with a dangerous striking arsenal on his feet, and a level of competitive experience that Dayron has not been faced with to date.

The co-founder of VM Academy in London, Greyson trains under Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Hilton Sousa as well as former fellow champion, Dom Wooding.

Amaya is a 28-year-old protégé of Rick Little, the original mentor of former world champion Julianna Peña, and a homegrown Combate Global star who has been fast-tracked in the MMA world, competing and winning five times under the promotion of Combate Global since her professional debut in October 2021.

Noll is a 24-year-old powerhouse, looking for her third consecutive victory after back-to-back wins in 2022.  In her last effort, Noll defeated Spain’s Aitana Alvarez via unanimous decision on October 7.

In another featured contest, Jair “El Lupe” Perez (7-3) will mix it up with Genier “Battosai” Penagos (7-3).

The 25-year-old Perez of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico is looking to rebound from a hard-fought, unanimous decision defeat at the hands of American Justin Vazquez last August 26.

Prior to the bout with Vazquez, Perez had won four consecutive fights in La Jaula, the Combate Global competition cage.

Penagos is a 27-year-old native of Caracas, Venezuela and a relative newcomer to Combate Global.

A winner of 5 of his last 7 bouts, Penagos has also notched 5 of his 7 career victories by way of (T)KO or submission.

In undercard action, Luis Fernando Chavez (3-0) of Ciudad Juarez, Chih., Mexico will square off with fellow unbeaten, rising star Adam Ortiz (3-0) of Tucson, Ariz. in a bantamweight matchup.

Kicking off the undercard will be a featherweight (145 pounds) scrap between David “DZ Machine” Zelner (4-1) of Merritt Island, Fla. and Isaac “Muelas” Ruelas (4-4) of Tijuana, B.C.
